IRBIT’S ARCHITECTURE
DISCOVER THE HISTORIC BUILDINGS OF IRBIT
About the project
We created a detailed guide of Irbit’s landmarks to present the city’s past and its urban legends.
Let us take you on a stroll through the city’s old streets. We will visit the fair, which largely defined the city before the 1917 Revolution. You will learn why Irbit was one of the most important cities in the Urals for several centuries.

About Irbit
The city’s architecture reveals its past
Curious and marvelous buildings emerged in the city. A local museum displayed original paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, Goya and Durer, while local schools and colleges trained the best professionals for the Urals, the Volga region and Siberia.
It is here that in 1895 the first electric light bulb in the Urals was turned on, while the world’s top celebrities came to the city for the opening of an indoor shopping gallery.
The history of the largest trade fair in the Urals came to an abrupt end in the early 20th century. Still, its memory lives on in the gingerbread-style mansions of local merchants, in museums and theaters, as well as in the urban legends.
